Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. Friends’ Central prepares graduates to succeed in college and in life.Long Term Substitute Upper School Spanish & French TeacherThe Friends’ Central Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks a dedicated, enthusiastic teacher of Spanish & French for a long term substitute position beginning November 11, 2026 through January 6, 2027. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a related field, and interest in working with Upper School students.In addition to having an educational background in teaching languages, we seek someone who will:Be an enthusiastic teacher and supportive guide for Upper School-aged studentsContinue to develop and coordinate our world language curricula with other facultyDetermine learning goals and design coherent instruction and assessment accordinglyHave the mindset and ability to work in partnership with parentsPossess excellent communication skills, including through writingPossess excellent interpersonal skillsEnhance the School’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity as outlined in our Diversity StatementUnderstand and be committed to the School’s Quaker values and missionBe an engaged member of the Friends’ Central faculty and wider communityUpper School faculty are also expected to perform supervisory duties (study hall, lunch, etc.) and assist with other programmatic activities that are part of the school day.Fluency in SpanishFluency in FrenchAbility to teach the following course: French III Adv., Spanish Literature, and Latino Immigrant Experience.Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, French or related fieldPhysical DemandsPhysical demands include dexterity for office machines and supply operation including but not limited to writing, using electronic devices, computer, phone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and printers.
